The arrival in Badawa...
BUFFALO Football Club was created in Kano. It
grew up from the popular area
of Badawa.
It all started in 1996 when M. Luc LAGOUCHE (Mister Luc
as he is called around), teacher at the French school in Kano went to Badawa for
the very 1st time to visit his cook’s family. It was not common at all to see a "baturé"
("white man" in Hausa language) riding a bicycle in such a place with a
bad reputation of
violence, drug dealers and prostitutes.
Bit by Bit, "Mister Luc" was able to establish communication and build a
good rapport
with the teenagers living around the area; they spent most times speaking about
football. Naturally they began to play together. Every evening, more and more
young people joined in the game. As the team began to grow, they decided to
clear a big field in the bush in order to play in better conditions.
Buffalo Football Club is
born...
The first official matches...
The players started to play in small competitions
inside the area.
February 1998, the members of the club registered Buffalo with the Kano State
Football Association. The team began in Division 3, after many victories, the
club was promoted to the Kano State Division 1, in 1999, the highest level in Kano State.
The following season (1999/2000), the seniors qualified to be on
the National
Amateur League of Nigeria.
They attended
directly the Amateur National 2 and represented Kano State in this championship for the
season 2000/2001.
From this level the club has been
challenging the best teams from the different states
in the North of the country.
The
nice adventure has started...
